    Root login not allowed

I have just upgraded from breezy.

I have been using root as my account, not using the jfw account and logging in as root with its own password (not usig sudo) and have had no problems with the traditional root account approach.

    Since upgrading apparently successfully
I have recreated the password for the root login in the traditional mode

However when I attempt to login as root I get the message 'root login not allowed'

How can I get to login?

    Hi,

Edit /etc/kde3/kdm/kdmrc .Change the line AllowRootLogin=false to
    AllowRootLogin=true

You can also do this graphically by pressing Alt-F2 and typing
      Code:
      kdesu kcontrol
and going to the login screen administration part at the bottom.

Why do you want to log in as root, though? Isn't that inconvenient--as opposed to creating a launcher for
      Code:
      kdesu konqueror

        Thanks caserie for your reply.

There is no longer such a line in Dapper.

You have to add the line 'AllowRootLogin=true'

Aisu Why login to root? I just find it more convenient for my set up
