Kubuntu 6.06 RC CD won't boot

I have problem with the "alternative" version. I burned 3 CDs so far (2 official RC release image + 1 daily image). None of them boot.

The md5sum check was OK on all 3. K3b was set to "Verify written data."

At first I thought I had a problem with the CD burner, then I burned the recently downloaded MusixGNU 0.40, StressLinux 0.3.1, and the "desktop" version, aka LiveCD, of Kubuntu 6.06 daily image. All of them boot fine.

Definitely a problem with the regular RC images. For me.

I have a different problem with the "desktop" edition, which I think best to post it separately.

Does anyone else have problem with the "alternative" version?

This may sound silly, but I used to have a similar problem with Fedora.

I could burn ANY bootable CD at 48x and it'd work, except Fedora which would only boot if I burnt it at the lowest speed possible, which was 4x at the time. I burnt my Ubuntu 6.06 RC at 4x since I'd forgotten to change the speed back to full (48x).

Might this bit of info help?

Release CD wouldn't boot for me either.
Tired burning at 4x as suggested. Still no go.

People (including me) are losing video when installing Dapper on machines with Radeon video cards. Is that your problem?
