It seems to me that I read somewhere about a way to upgrade from Dapper Dan to 8.04.1. I don't think you had to go step by step in order to upgrade to 8.04.1. So you don't have to upgrade to 7.xx and then 8.xx.
Anybody know how to do that upgrade?

I tried following the instructions given on the link you posted. It seems that after more than an hour of downloading and installing stuff that the installation has frozen. It said something about backing up LVM files if they exist and it hasn't moved in about 20 minutes.
