specifying the partition to install to

Hi,
I have hardy-heron in a /dev/sda2, swap in /dev/sda3 and I want to install
dapper on /dev/sda4 but the install program by default takes /dev/sda2
and I cannot change it to point to /dev/sda4. There are no options for it.
How do I go about it ?

Use the "Alternate Install" CD -- it gives you the ability to choose "manual partitioning" and that in turn allows you to choose the mount points for your Dapper filesystem.

And with the standard Kubuntu 6.06 LTS Dapper Drake: Step 5 of 6: Select a disk / Manually edit partition table => Prepare partitions => Prepare mount points...

I am able to go till prepare partitions, but I don't see any option to go to prepare mount points.
I have just one hdd, /dev/sda so I select them from the drop down menu and I still see the same
page with no option to choose the mount points.

I am really curious how did you reach till the "prepare mount points".

Oh..sorry I think I don't have LTS. maybe the LTS has the option.
README.diskdefines in the CD directory doesn't say anything about LTS.

wait a minute...looks like its all the same. I did download the correct one, the LTS. Then why doesn't it
give me the option to edit partition.

It is there, straight after entering your time zone you need to say "manual partitioning".

Hello User Toad, as mentioned earlier I was able to go till Prepare partitions...but not to "prepare
mount points". The missing step is the last step.

Manually edit partition table => Prepare partitions => Prepare mount points. ( given by user rog )

oh, so you've got it Once you are in manual partitioning you can select a partition and click on edit. Now you can edit the mountpoint.

"Prepare Partitions" = Partition editor.

If your partitons are Ok, you could simply click continue. After this Kubuntu should offer (it does here) default mount points, you can change these.


Note !
As default Kubuntu will format /, /home and swap.
