Kubuntu 7.10 went blank after Full adept Update

Desktop went blank on my Kubuntu 7.10 after Adept update tonight.

    What I did
I did an update on that computer via Adept. I didn't look at what was updated, just updated everything that was available. Everything seemed to update fine. So I quit Adept and shutdown.

    Problem
Now when I boot up that computer after choosing from the GRUb (i got XP in another partition), its seems to stall -- waits at that point for about 30seconds, then proceeds to a blank desktop. No context menu appears. My desktop icons are gone even cursor doesn't appear. No task bar at all. Alt+F1/Ctrl+Alt+F1-F6 does not bring any change
    either.

    i've try
    dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg
but there are nothing happen even i change something there.

Can some1 help me, i'm totally new to kubuntu?
just 2month start using it by learning from internet.
i'm try to google this problem but dosn't found similar.

    this is my rig
    AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Proc 4000+
    2.11 GHz, 1GB of RAM
    NVIDIA PX8400 GS

This is my second gutsy install and the second time that adept broke, I can't even apt-get because it tells me ''dpkg was interrupted, you must manually run 'dpkg --configure -a' to correct the problem.''

I'm getting very frustrated w/ *nix
