    fatal error sound server, CPU overload

    Just installed kubuntu64 and I am getting this message on startup.fatal error sound server, CPU overload

    also I get 15 even beeps on start up also. I think it has something to do with the memory, but can't find any info on 15 beeps. Tech support at MSI (mobo) never heard it before. Machine is up and running though so I am not to concerned.

    I have the same problem here. I thinks its software related, as I've Ubuntu 6.06 on the other drive; that works alright.

      try entering
      echo "options snd-via82xx dxs_support=2" |sudo tee -a /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base

      see this bug for more details, not sure if it will fix your problem but it did mine
