    First Impressions of Eoan Ermine

I've been running 19.10 on QEMU for the past few months, along with Neon User Edition (also on QEMU), and have been pretty impressed with Eoan. It was about at the same level as Neon, and one Eoan finally tackles Discover's update bar graphs and gets something better than Neon's, but that is a small point. The only thing I don't likje is that it's quite slow to start up, and I'm using 4 MB of virtual memory. That could be a problem with QEMU--Eoan seems to start up twice, as did Neon before I erased it. But I like the release and have had almost no issues with it. Maybe I'll even change over to it from 18.04.

I just installed Eoan Ermine from Disco Dingo whit the konsole sudo do-release-upgrade -d .
No problem at all and it works perfect .
All My personal settings stay the same after the full upgrade and it feels faster ?
    I'm a happy user

That is encouraging to hear. I tried a separate install to take a look at it and I like what I see.
I think I'll follow your lead and sudo do-release-upgrade -d.

Your English is more than adequate to communicate successfully => I understand you completely.

        I plunged in and did

        Code:
        sudo do-release-upgrade -d
I will possibly regret saying this, but, so far, a few days in, I don't regret doing the upgrade.
Of course I have the time to address any problems that might pop up and nothing critical will happen if I am without this computer for a short while.
I have a backed up system and access to another PC if necessary so I'm happy to take a chance and I'm pleased to report - looking good!

However, without my security blanket, safety belt and soft cushion I'd be inclined to wait until a week or two after release before I'd venture into the world of the eoan ermine.

I heard that 19.10 offered ZFS as a root file system so I download the latest current, found at:
          http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/kubuntu/daily-live/current/
          to try it out.

My plan was to burn the iso on a 32Gb stick, boot that, and then do a regular install to a 64Gb USB stick, something I've never tried before and didn't know if it would work. I could have burned the ISO and given it a persistent storage, allowing me to save configs and apps installed later, but mkusb isn't in the repository and I don't want to add ppa:mkusb/ppa, so I settled for a regular LiveUSB.

After I booted it I played with it for a while. Running on a 32Gb USB stick in a 3.0 port Plasma 5.17 was just as fast as 5.12.9, if not faster! Amazing speed on a USB stick. My Plasma 5.12.9 desktop appears in under 3 seconds after I hit return on the login screen. I'd wager that if I were running 19.04 my desktop would appear in under a second.

However, my primary goal was to test the ZFS root file system. That I could not do because in the "setup disk" stage even though I'd select sde (the target USB stick) and hit the continue button the next screen shows sda1 being selected. Rinse & repeat several times. No joy.

I test ZFS when I was running 16.04. There are features in ZFS that make it an excellent FS for servers, but BTRFS is much better a replacement for EXT4, IMO, than ZFS. I have no plans to upgrade until 21.04.1 is released. IF a backport for 5.17 comes down the 18.04 pike I'll jump on it, but otherwise I'm happy to wait for it.

            Mentioned in release notes.

Canonical landed ZFS changes very late on, sadly with only GTK front end enablement. Simply did not have have time to make and properly test required changes for the installer KDE front end. Hopefully will be ok for 20.04.
