    Mode not supported k

My display was all wrong after installing. Possibly because my monitor was manufactured in 2008 before plug&play was perfected. I suspect the wrong aspect ratio. I tried selecting a lower resolution. I have a blank screen with the words "mode not supported" . I tried killing the power and rebooting hoping it would revert. No such luck. It is still blank. Why would it save the setting if apply isn't clicked on? I expected it to time out and revert when I didn't click on apply.

    How do I fix this?

Just to remind users and devs that Ubuntu and its flavors have a long way to go to be as usr friendly as they should be.

The letter k in the title is a typo.

You can fix that. Edit the first post and click on the Go Advanced button. That will enable you to edit the Title.

After thinking for a while I came up with: terminal mode then Ubuntu-drivers autoinstall then waited for a huge batch of updates which included NVIDIA 390.87. Issued the reboot command and I was back to my wrong resolution again. At least I could see the desktop... Sort of. I used the NVIDIA tool and switched to 1680X1050. All is well now. I suggest patching the KDE control or navoo driver which ever one it is so that it gives a time that you have to click ok or it will revert. If this should already be the case then it is broken. It doesn't work correctly! It did in Bionic.

You should have been able to set or fix that in settings-> system settings->hardware-> Display and Monitor. The problem being that the video driver set something that was outside the monitor's ability to respond. The thing is it should never have been able to to do that in the first place. Even kinfocenter should have shown what the monitor is capable of, even a 10 year old model. It might be a bug
