    [LAPTOP] HP Pavillion XF255 ?

Trying to install Kubuntu 18.04 32bit on this HP pavillion XF255 with amd athlon processor.
I finally figured out how to get it to boot from disc and now it starts to go (I can see the Kubuntu logo) and then it gives a few lines of terminal stuff and stops dead.

    Can this not be done?

    Help

    If it is this puppy

and it has the stock amount of ram (256mb) or even the max (1Gb), the graphical installer simply cannot run without enough ram (2gb iirc)

Here is a list of some distros for old, ancient hardware, and even some of these have cpu/ram requirements that are higher than you may have. The ones in the bottom half ( the top 5) have the right requirements, and I probably recommend Puppy Linux as a good starting choice, as my experience with it (a long time ago) was a very good one, on a 1998 thinkpad with a 233mmx cpu. but any of the top 5 have good reputations.
