[SOLVED] Unwanted application on screen

This has application has appeared on my screen. It accepts text, right click produces a menu of choices to manage the entered text.
I can't close it and I don't know what it does.
Have re started the computer several times and its always there.
Any help would be appreciated

It is a desktop sticky note, which probably got added by an accidental middle click on your desktop.

You can remove it by left clicking on it, holding the mouse button down until resize border appear. In one corner there will be an X to close and remove it.

Sticky notes?
If it's that, click and hold, you should get a red bin option to remove it.

That was a happy accident. I haven't been using sticky notes but now I know that a single middle click on the mouse brings up a sticky note (with the last item on the clipboard) I'll be using it regularly.
