Anyway, I went the whole hog and deleted all the portions of my hard disk and installed Kubuntu 18.04, then one-keyed the restoration process from Aptik. But no doubt, doing a completely new install is a clean way to begin. Restoring directly afterwards from Aptik gives good results, although not all programs survive the process and do not get installed. So far I have not suffered from any compatibility problems, but will advise the forum if they occur.
- Please do not use the CODE tag when pasting content that contains formatting (colored, bold, underline, italic, etc) Use the QUOTE tag instead.
The CODE tag displays all content as plain text, including the formatting tags, making it difficult to read.
