[SOLVED] How can you use the printer brother DCP-J715W?

Hello everybody,

I have to print my ticket for the train of Friday on 11:26 am.
Until this time, I will have to plug and use the brother DCP-J715W printer.
Please, do anybody know how can I dot that?
Wheter I use cups or not I have the choice of many brother DCP printers, but not of the afore mentioned one.
I could click on "use ppd file", but I don't know which ppd file I have to provide.
Can someone help me please?

If you use a network connection, either wired or wireless, to a router that Kubuntu is connected to, it should be set up automatically for simple printing.

In fact on 18.04 I couldn't stop Kubuntu doing that for my Brother.

It does not show up as a wifi printer?

If you use USB you probably need drivers

I could send the file to someone who printed it for me.
Now I downloaded the driver and I will install it the next time I will be with this printer.

I installed today the printer Brother DCP-J715W on Kubuntu 18.04 and it was not so easy. One only needs the driver installer tool.

Even if I downloaded the cups-driver proposed by claydoh, I could not access to the cups because I didn't wrote my username nor my password, but CUPS never asked me to put these words and I didn't know where to write them.

Thereafter I downloaded the lpr-driver which needs a driver installer tool that I could install thanks to the explanations of

I had to agree few conditions a few times and the terminal asked me if I can write my printer URI. I answered "no". It also asked me which Brother model I use and it choosed alone the appropriate drivers. Afterwhile the terminal asked me if I wanted a test print. I answered "yes" and again there was conditions that I had to accept or reject a few times. But no paper has been printed. This is why I have been checking the installed printers and I saw that two DCP-J715 printers were installed (and I know that there was no DCP-J715W printer installed a the begining, this is why I suppose that something strange happened after I agreed for a test print and the installer tool and the printer have been installed twice). As I have been looking for both the print that are awaiting, I could launch a test print for both installed printers, what I did. Finally a paper has been test printed.
