[SOLVED] Scanner stopped working in the middle of scanning

I was scanning some documents, I scanned two pages, then I opened up the flatbed to scan a third page. Suddenly Skanlite crashed, and when I tried to open it back up, it now says it cannot find any connected devices. Meanwhile the device is still showing up in my list of printers. I went to the manufacturer's website, downloaded and installed all the packages, still not working…

ETA: Just had to restart several times, no idea what made it work again. I am having flashbacks to Windows 98…

I would suspect that it created a lock file to prevent opening more than one copy of the program connecting to the device. The lock file was probably deleted when the final version of it quit.

Oh, I ran Win98 and Kubuntu is no Win98. Not even close.

Moral: let the scan finish before you attempt another.
