Have you looked in system settings, input devices, keyboard? You just might find a "keyboard model" that matches yours.

In layouts, I've set up two, one the usual "us" and the other it calls "Eurkey (US based layout with european letters)" and with it left alt is alt but the right one does all sorts of European language stuff that I only vaguely what is going on. It gives me æåëýþÿüïöœ for qwertyuiop. I get an indicator in the system tray that if clicked changes the layout.

    Hi,
    thanks for the reply!

I've tried many keyboard settings with no success. Actually alt IS NOT a dead key, but ` is, that is how you write àèì. If you disable deadkeys, such as selecting the default english variant instead of the "English (US, intl. with dead keys)" the shortcuts start to work fine, but then I can't write all letters variations that is needed for my language (ex: á, é, í, ç).

This works fine with same keyboard configuration and varian on Gnome and Unity, it's broken only in kde.

    Thanks in advance.
