    ALC 1220 front panel output

I just upgraded to a Ryzen system with a AX370-GAMING K7 board. Have issues with sound. The board uses the ALC 1220 Realtek codec. I can get sound from the rear panel fine, but no such luck with the front panel. Works fine in Windows, so hardware and connections are setup fine. When I plug in headphones, sound keeps coming out of the speakers hooked up to the rear panel, but not from the headphones. Already checked alsamixer and all volume sliders are active. It even detects when I plug in the headphones, but no sound.
I'm using the 4.14.3 kernel with an up-to-date Kubuntu install.

alc 1220 has had issues for both kaby lake and ryzen. Have you tried kernel 4.13?

I specifically bought a board that does not use realtek 1220 just to avoid issues.

May have to go back to the old Xonar. Lots of static noise when plugging in the front mic as well (which also does not work). Will try with other kernels.
