You could also replace sddm with lightdm and see if it makes a difference. You need the packages: lightdm; lightdm-gtk-greeter; lightdm-gtk-greeter-settings
Then Do:

systemctl disable sddm.service
systemctl enable lightdm.service

Lightdm didn't solve it (I think it made it worse, so I returned to sddm).
