    Read-Only NTFS partitions after installation

I just installed 17.04 on my Dad's laptop and configured a partition as an NTFS partition to store photos. I notice that it is owned by root and the group is plugdev of whihc his user is a member, so it seems I should be able to write files to the partition. However when I attempt this I get a read-only file system error. Is there no way to write to an NTFS file system from Linux, or is there a configuration problem in the way it's mounted?

    Thanks for the help.

That was the ticket - ntfs-3g was installed, but ntfs-config was missing. Once I installed that and ran it, all was well.

      Thanks for the help.
