    How to remove Discover

Not sure how it got on there but now every time I boot up it tries to get me to install Firefox.
Can I remove it without damaging any other system operations?

Instead, go to System Settings > Startup & Shutdown and select Start with an empty session (or such along those lines; sorry, not in Kubuntu at the moment).

Close! Add "Desktop Sessions" to the end of the --> string and you have it!

Discover is part of Kubuntu. So that's how it got there.

Re. it prompting to install Firefox, could you run
        Code:
        update-alternatives --get-selections | grep -i browser
in your terminal and post the output here?

          Here you go...

          greg@greg-OptiPlex-990:~$ update-alternatives --get-selections | grep -i browser
          gnome-www-browser auto /usr/bin/vivaldi-stable
          infobrowser auto /usr/bin/info
          x-www-browser auto /usr/bin/vivaldi-stable
          greg@greg-OptiPlex-990:~$

I have an additional line for "www-browser" but that may not be relevant.

I don't understand why you get the Firefox nag

The "nag" referred to here, is your statement that apon opening Discover, you are 'nagged' [rerompted] to install Firefox.

So just as an experiment I made Firefox my default web browser.
I no longer am getting "the nag"
                  This is weird
