I have replaced my HDD with a SSD and somehow in the process my SanDisk with a few of my backups got borked. I have the HDD in a USB caddy for the time being and want to export/import my address book and calendar file(s).

Can anyone tell me where Kontact, etc, stores the address book and calendar files?

Just use the export function within Kontact.

This is for import but it is just another tab. I tried REALLY HARD FOR YEARS to get Kontact to interact with Gmail and then the college, but because Gmail is continually chaning stuff I just quit.

If you search the archives I had huge threads describing step by step how to do it, but it is all in the past. Even Matilda stopped cleaning the cobwebs off the door.

SO...CONGRATS TO YOU for getting it to fill your needs!

I don't use the mail portion, just address book and calendar. Don't really like it but I couldn't find anything else. Osmo is a bit too simplified. If you think Education is expensive, try ignorance.

Where the (importable) data is stored depends on which type of calendar address book agents (backends) you had configured, since korganizer and kaddressbook support a multitude of different local and/or online (google, dav, kolab etc.) resources (and then uses the akonadi database to combine the data for quicker [and also offline] access).Originally posted by SpecialEd View PostI have replaced my HDD with a SSD and somehow in the process my SanDisk with a few of my backups got borked. For the following, I'm assuming you're using locally stored resources. The locations for the locally stored addressbook and calendar data are configurable, but should by default be stored in subdirectories under ~/.local/share/ (in the old HDD). For example, check ~/local/share/contacts/ for the default address book. I don't use local calendars, so I can't remember where the default local calendar is stored, but I'd check ~/.local/share/korganizer/ first (and then methodically check other subdirectories in ~/.local/share/ if the data is not there).

Note that for best results you should import the data rather than copy the contents directly, as the "middle-man" (akonadi) might not pickup the changes if you simply move/copy the data.
