My issue is this. I want to set up a Master Document with some 2 dozen or so subdocuments. Whether I try adding them by adding "New Document" in the floating menu, or by inserting in the floating menu, the result is the same: no more than six subdocuments can be added. Am I missing something?

Limited number of subdocuments in libreoffice?
I looked at the page you recommended. Then I had the bright idea of seeing if this problem was reproducible in my Windows installation. It was until I saw what I had done with one of the subdocuments. One of them had been saved as a master document.
