Folder View not being persistant in Plasma 5.5 or 5.6

I have my icons stored in the /home/user/Desktop/ folder (Escritorio in my locale).
I go to the, Right Mouse Button, Desktop Preferences, Select Folder View there and Apply. All my icons show up (albeit a tad too big). I logout and login again and my Desktop is back at the Desktop configuration. It does not remember my Folder View setting, as it did in Kubuntu 14.04.
Please help me out as I feel rather silly.

Folder View not being persistant

I upgraded Kubuntu 14.04 to 16.04 and after fixing some problems with the gfx card, it seems to boot fine. However I have a Plasma issue in that I cannot get it to start with the Desktop set to Folder View (where my icons live). I go to Desktop Preferences->Folder View, Apply and all my icons appear. However, when I logout and login again, the Desktop is now set to view the Desktop again, not the Folder View.

Please some help with this as it is driving me insane.

I managed to get my icons stay in the desktop by using Block Graphic Elements.

I managed to make my icons stick by selecting RMB->Block Graphic Elements. Thanks.
