    Dekstop/Kwin stucks on user actions

    Hi,

I use kubuntu 15,10. I have a Dell Precision M4800. The hardware details of my laptop is given in appendix[1].

I have a problem with my desktop. When I click on dolphin or any icons, my kwin freezes (mouse becomed inactive) for 5 seconds and then it resumes. This happens sometimes when I try to take some user actions (such as save, open etc) from different applications. I tried changing "Compositor Settings for Desktop Effects". My current settings is given in the attached screenshot.

    .

I have tried switching to OpenGL2 and XRender. But the problem still remains. My Graphical information from kinfocenter is also attached.

How can I resolve this issue ? Any suggestion would be highly appreciated.

I tried to change the different configurations in Compositor. But all had similar issues with desktop and Kwin. It gets stucked for 5 secs.

PS: Just now when I tried to save the screen shot, the whole desktop stucked for 5 seconds.

I tried my best with KDE Plasma 5 to get it working. But kwin stucks and it affects my productivity. I made the switch to Linux Mint 17.3 KDE (which is based on KDE4 ). Now my laptop is working perfectly. I will come back to see if Kubuntu 16.04 LTS fixes the kwin issues.
