Kontact Doesn't Provide AM Times

For some time now I have found that whenever I put a new Event in Kontact and specify an AM time it sets it to PM with the end time the next day. I cannot set an AM time. Also, if I go into Settings > Configure Kontact > Time and Date, I cannot specify a AM time, it always goes to PM.

I will be interested to know if others have the same problem or have I somehow got a setting wrong. i would rather take this investigative approach before I consider filing a bug report on this problem.

Don't tell me you would ban meetings in the morning. As a retired person, I have many events in the AM hours and I therefore want to be alerted to when I have to deal with them. Currently this is not possible with the Kontact that I have on my computer.

I thought that I should illustrate my problems with Kontact graphically. My problems are with the Calendar, and when I select a new event for say 11:30am as shown below,



I then get the time as 11:30pm and the end time 1 hour later is for the following day. This makes the event go for just over 2 days as shown below:



I normally use my calendar file std.ics, but for these tests I used the "Personal Calendar". Both calendars behave the same.

Has anyone else experienced this problem with Kontact's Calendar?

Unfortunately, I have not found a way to change to a 24hr clock. Any help on how to do this would be appreciated.

I am wondering if you have tried Kontact's calendar and if it works correctly for you?

I have been able to change my digital clock display to 24hr time but Kontact's Calendar and also my Yahoo weather applets all have AM/PM displays

I have found the culprit. It is because I am in Australia and the developers have made a mistake in the time format for Australia.

If I change the System Settings > Regional Settings > Formats >Time to either United Kingdom or United States it works perfectly. In the case of the USA time, Sunday starts on the left and time can be entered successfully as either AM or PM. In the case of the UK time, Sunday is on the right side and time is in a 24Hr format.

So, depending on what week layout and time format you want, choose the appropriate country, which may not be the one you live in.
