Baloo problems?

I have installed Kubuntu 15.10 on two machines and the search file function is working very poorly on both. It typically yields no results but occasionally may yield a single relevant results when there should be dozens. My best guess is that file indexing is not working properly but I am unfamiliar with the best way to troubleshoot this. It may also be worth noting that I also have similar issues with baloo on OpenSuse 13.2 where I am running plasma 5.3. Is there a quick and easy fix for this problem with baloo? I'm pretty disappointed in plasma 5 since this is version 5.4 in Kubuntu, not 5.0. Thanks in advance for any tips!

There is a configuration utility for Search in the System Settings, maybe you want to assure all the relevant types of documents and partitions are included in the search.
