Thunderbird and newsgroups

Thunderbird was just updated to 38.3.0 and now there is a little problem with newsgroups.

When I press the reply icon now it selects a reply to the sender but no longer to the newsgroup.
It is possible to right click the message and select Reply to newsgroup and get the desired action.

Anyone that sees the same behaviour?

The problem appears to have been an incompatibility between the versions of Thunderbird.
I have two versions of Kubuntu with their own /home, both have Thunderbird and Mozilla but the actual directories are only on one /home, the other gets access via a link.

So I also had to update 14.04.3 to get everything back to normal.
Very unusual, I've run this configuration for years and don't remember a similar issue.
