Fresh install does not accept the password

My fresh installation of Kubuntu 15.10 does not accept the password. No way to get in. What can be done?
I installed it with USB and DVD. Same failure.

Are you saying that you did install, and then after rebooting, the password you used during installation isn't being accepted?

Yes. After reboot it does accept the password. I reinstall, a second time resquesting automatic login and it did not work by pressing return. Again.

How many characters (how long) is the password you used?

Does the password contain the £ symbol?
Press Ctrl + Alt + F2 login from there, does it work? Note that nothing will appear to happen when entering your password here.
