K 15.10 does not start on startup but does so from rescue mode.

I just did a clean install of Kubuntu 15.10 on a Lenovo Thinkpad T 410.
I am dual booting with Win 7. Windows works fine on start up.
Kubuntu started up regularly the first few times. No it does no longer start without some help.

When starting 15.10 I can see short harddrive activity. Then the screen goes black and nothing happens any longer. Some very faint hard drive light once in a while.
When booting 15.10 into rescue mode first and then starting from there "normally", Kubuntu 15.10 boots just fine. It works perfectly well from thereon.

Does anyone have an idea what causes this strange behavior, please?

No error messages during rescue boot and system check.

    Solved miraculously.

I am marking this thread as solved. It is not solved. No solutions suggested or discovered on the Internet.

However, I used a workaround to overcome the issue.
Start 15.10 in rescue mode, hit the "restart normally" option, restart.
    15.10 will start perfactly.

After doing this for a while, the problem fixed itself.
Now Kubuntu 15.10 is starting without the detour of rescue operation.

Just in case someone has a similar problem.

By the way, after the last major upgrade, the issue came back.
    Resolved with the indicated method.

For me booting into 15.10 sometimes ends up on a black screen.

With Ctrl+Alt+F4 I will change to a different virtual terminal where I can use Ctrl+Alt+Backspace to get a reboot which this time will end up on a normal desktop.

Of course I could have used the Magic Keys but this is easier.

        ........
Ditto here on a Lenovo Thinkpad t540p. A manual power off and back on solves it.
