I didn't realise till after upgrading to 15.10 that Catalyst (the proprietary AMD Graphics driver) is currently not working with Kernel versions 4+. So I'm starting a thread here for us AMD users to keep up-to-date with when it gets fixed.

Supposedly a workaround/patch has been released for it. I have yet to try it.

EDIT: Just tried the workaround with no success, blackscreened after the splash screen. Purged fglrx driver and went back to the the OSS driver. Looks like I will continue running the OSS for now. I hope others will have better luck.

Woo hoo finally got it working with my AMD A8-6500 Richland APU! Used the released fix from the Proposed repository. I can now run dual monitors with success.

You're welcomeOriginally posted by thelionroars View Post^ Thanks, I ended up using that backport yesterday. Performance on the open driver was pretty good, but it would freeze up whenever putting my laptop to sleep on batteries.
. I agree the open driver is better than previous iterations but still lags behind the proprietary Catalyst drivers, especially when running dual monitors.

Pre-release updatesOriginally posted by Fernando View PostHi there!
How can I get that fix? I tried the link but it's dead. I'm currently using open source driver and it's less than ideal... What are the proposed repositories? How do I get to them?
Thanks in advance!
