is upgrade to plasma 5.3 supported

Hi all,
given that plasma 5 users of 14.04 had to make a clean install of 14.10, how safe is to install plasma 5.3 from backports repo and expect that upgrade to 15.10 would succeed?

upgrade to 15.04 first then use the kubuntu ppa to add 5.3 .

sorry for not being clear: I had installed 14.10 plasma 4 - Upgraded to 15.04 and thinking about installing plasma 5.3 from backports repo.

My question is this:
Is it expected for users who had installed plasma 5.3 from backports repository to reinstall their system when the 15.10 arrives, or the upgrade to 15.10 will be smooth?

No doubt the developers have the intention to make that upgrade possible.
But time and again we see some configurations are difficult or impossible to upgrade without issues.

You should get yourself a crystal ball

Don't be surprised 15.04 with backports enabled might by that time be running Plasma 5.4 or 5.5.
