I can't get the IM client that is installed with plasma 5 to connect to my work Jabber account. It just says connecting and never will. I used the same settings in Pidgin and it connects with no problem, but I'd much rather use the Plasma one if possible.

Some of us were testing the plasma client recently and found that it is far from perfect - you might find this thread an interesting read!

That's different from what I'm trying to do. We have a cisco jabber server on our intranet. In the advanced setting of the IM client I've put the server address and port. These same setting work fin in pidgin, but I can't connect using the KDE IM client.
Edit: I just installed Kopete and it works fine. I guess I will stay with that for now, but there is something wrong with the IM client with kubuntu 15.04 (Telepathy?).Last edited by timber; Apr 27, 2015, 12:51 PM.

different but relevant, since we ended up discussing the merits of various clients and compatibility issues (read further!)Originally posted by timber View PostThat's different from what I'm trying to do.
Kopete uses a library called iris, which is/was written by the psi developers. Pidgin uses libpurple, and KDE Telepathy uses the telepathy framework. Not sure if it's a library bug or a gui bug, but a good way to test could be finding another client that uses the telepathy framework and testing it. If I had to bet, I'd say it's a gui thing, since the gui has changed a lot recently!Edit: I just installed Kopete and it works fine. If you're going to test one, perhaps try empathy?Last edited by Feathers McGraw; Apr 28, 2015, 11:45 PM. Reason: kopete actually uses iris library from psi developers
