    Unable to logout/shutdown suddenly.

Kubuntu 14.04 LTS (all updates to date using dist-upgrade)
    KDE 4.13.3
Simple installation that is used daily for email/LibreOffice/work websites - nothing new installed in the last year, no weird apps on system.

For the last week or so I haven't been able to shutdown by either using the menu "Leave -> Shutdown" option, or by right clicking on the desktop and selecting it. The "Leave" sub menu pops up, but on selection absolutely nothing happens.

I have to shutdown from a terminal.

Is anyone else seeing this or know of a fix?

    Thanks .

try removing /home/you/.kde/share/config/ksmserverrc ,,,,where "you" is your user name,,,,,,reboot and see if your leave options are back.
