This is not a new bug and I'm surprised it is still around:
      https://www.kubuntuforums.net/showth...=muon+discover

The link gives the same solution vinny just mentioned, great brains et al
Many other KDE apps would use the Ctrl+m shortcut but no such luck here
I also tried Shift+Ctrl+m, it has a rather unusual outcome, try it

A very nice solution(?) is to convert to Muon Package Manager, not as pretty but a lot more useful.
You might have to install it first.

Open K > Applications > System > Software Center (Muon Discover), in the search window at the top, enter Muon Package Manager, then click Install, Done. Find it at the same general place: K > Applications > System > Package Manager (Muon Package Manager)

Still didn't give me back the search bar in muon discover, also noticed I don't have a menu up top either. Package Manager is installed, still don't understand how to use it, the dependency thing.

No, it won't. But it will give you Muon Package Manager, which is much better, more complete, more useful/informative, "professional," whatever.

Make sure muon discover is not running when you delete the config file. You can use dolphin, the file manager to do this, but you will have to enable viewing of hidden files and directories in its settings.

How would I uninstall then reinstall discover, would that get the menu and search bar back?

Thank you very much, that did the trick after I figured out what you were telling me to do, the menu and the search bar is back, one more question though, how would I have accomplished this using Konsole?
Claydoh's post let me know what i was supposed to be doing.

When you open a konsole, you are in your user home directory. If you weren't; you had navigated to some other directory; then typing:
                            Code:
                            rm ~/.kde/share/config/muon-discoverrc
would remove the configuration file. Otherewise (when in your home directory) typing:
                            Code:
                            rm .kde/share/config/muon-discoverrc
                            does the job.
