    KDEConnect not showing up in Dolphin

    The last couple of weeks I've been using 15.04 but got soooo tiered of it's problems that I went back to 14.04.3
    I always have two installs anyway, the older was 14.10 but when support stopped I reinstalled 14.04.

    Now I love KDEConnect and it works fine in 15.04 and it also did in 14.10.
    But in 14.04 I can't get dolphin to show the connected phone and tablet.

    I can send files from the phone to the computer but the other way around seems impossible.

    I know I had the same problem with the original 14.04 install but that's over year ago.
    Has anyone got this working? (in 14.04)

    I dont use KDEconnect ,,,,,,,I do not have any "smart"phones @hear

    but since you have a nice 14.04 and are tired of 15.04's quirks (you did enable the backports ,,,,dident you http://www.kubuntu.org/news/plasma-5...-kubuntu-1504/) ,,,,,,,,,,, you should try 15.10 ,,,,,,,,use the beta1 .iso not some daily and do a
    Code:
    sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
    as soon as your up and running .

    we are on kernel
    Code:
            [FONT=monospace][COLOR=#000000]vinny@vinny-Bonobo-Extreme:~$ uname -a [/COLOR]
    Linux vinny-Bonobo-Extreme 4.2.0-10-generic #11-Ubuntu SMP Sun Sep 13 11:23:40 UTC 2015 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

      Do you have the latest kdeconnect installed? The version in the below ppa looks to be the latest official release, and is the same version found in Wily 15.10 (just compiled for KDE 4) The android app and desktop software need to be the same version, usually, for things to work.

        Thanks claydoh, that ppa and it's newer version of KDEConnect was what I needed!

            Put a space between ubuntu and trusty

              In the terminal, you would use add-apt-repository

              Code:
              sudo add-apt-repository ppa:vikoadi/ppa
              The "ppa:" address is found on the ppa's page, along with links to instructions, which I linked to above.

                Even that left me the same error:

                  deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/vikoadi/ppa/ubuntu YOUR_UBUNTU_VERSION_HERE main
                  deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/vikoadi/ppa/ubuntu YOUR_UBUNTU_VERSION_HERE main

                  this is what that page gave me to use, what was i supposed to do with this if terminal won't take it.

                    Ignore that stuff, the command I gave you does all those things for you. You already have the ppa added by entering the command string

                    Those other lines you are entering in a terminal are not actual commands, but addresses to the ppa files that would be added to a config file, except that you already have that now.

                    next step is to update and then install kdeconnect.

                      I did the "sudo apt-get update"
                      now i guess i need to reinstall kde c
                      I now have the icon for connect in the taskbar now, transfered 2 files to phone so it works now, thank you

                      sudo apt-get install kdeconnect indicator-kdeconnect

                        may just have to log out or reboot to start or reload the kdeconnect daemon

                            I can go back and forth from laptop to phone now, great start, now I just need to get into the sd card, says I don't have permission, far as I can tell my phone isn't blocking anything.

                            Code:
                            root@clay1245dx-HP-Pavilion-dv7-Notebook-PC:/home/clay1245dx/.kde/share/apps/kdeconnect/44a4867a42c2024c/storage# lsls: cannot open directory .: Permission denied
