An odd thing happens when I go to YouTube--I can't see the letters I type in the Search Bar. It's as if the font color were white. I can search all right, but I can't see what I type. Any suggestions? This is not a serious problem as the letters I type are registered, but it's an irritating flaw that I'd like to fix.

I've set my color theme to Steampunk, which looks rather nice. Is that a dark theme? If so, can I keep the theme and change the color of the letters? If not, is there a way to fix it so I can see what I type? Note: this is the only problem I've had with Trusty since the initial problems of slowness I had at first.

maby ,,,,dose it use white letters on a dark background?,,,,,if search "steam" in the "get new schemes" in the "colours" section of system settings the second one down (by paladin-MMX)dose look like it may have white letters,,,,,,,,,,,anyway wile in the "colors" section of the "application appearance" section of "system settings" click the "colors" tab and you can set the text color for all the diferent text sections to whatever you like ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,as a temporary workaround you can highlight the "invisible" text to make it visable.Originally posted by oldgeek View PostI've set my color theme to Steampunk, which looks rather nice. (I presume you've got firefox set to "Use system colours".) Using a dark theme on the web often gives this problem because web designers love to code background #ffffff everywhere, then the page uses the system colour for text. One approach I use a lot is to uncheck "let pages override" your colour choices, but that makes lots of sites ugly and you can't see the content on others.Originally posted by oldgeek View PostIf not, is there a way to fix it so I can see what I type?
But what I suspect will work well for you is to skin problematic sites with the Stylish add-on. There's many people out there doing styles for common sites like you tube, and you'll find one you like.

Thanks for the suggestions. Since I had trouble with the contrast on other sites as well, I gave up on steampunk and went back to the default settings. Steampunk does have a nice splash screen and a very attractive time/date/lunar phase widget for the home screen, so I can continue to use those. But as a desktop color theme it's not all that great after all.
