problems coming out of sleep mode

Hi all, I am not sure if this belongs here, but here it goes.
Did a fresh install of 14.04 , worked well, but have one niggling problem that i can not seem to fix. Have been looking for an answer for some time, but to no avail.
My system will go into sleep mode, but when I "wake" it, it will not come out. All i have is a black screen with the cursor. The only way to get the system back is a reboot.
By doing that I can get back and log on/in
    Any hints would be appreciated.
    Thanks to all

Hello all, after some more searching, it looks like I have solved the problem. I updated my bios and now sleep mode is working as it should.
Just thought to leave a response here in case others have this problem as well

Hi all, it seems this problem is not resolved. It worked for a day and then went back to not coming out of sleep mode.
I will keep trying to solve this.
It seems this problem is occuring right across all buntu flavours.

With these hardware dependent problems it is worthwhile mentioning the hardware you have.

          Hi Teunis
          I have an Intel Core2 Quad Q8400 @ 2.66Ghz , 4Gib RAM, Nvidia GeForce 9400 GT

Since my last post I have changed my settings in Screen Locker and selected Desktop Widgets, and until now my desktop witll come out of sleep mode each and every time.
Will keep trying before I announce this problem as solved.

Thanks for responding to my post

            Good.
The reason I asked is certain motherboards have problems waking up and therefor Lenovo Thinkpads have hibernation (to disk) disabled by default.
My experience is it can succesfully be enabled afterwards but there's no guarantee.

              Hi all
I am now happy to call this problem solved. Since changing the settings in Screen Locker, it has not once failed to come out of sleep mode.
