Automatic resize of ntfs partition failed

I have three identical dell laptops with 500GB hard drives. All three have Windows 7 on them.

On two of the laptops, the guided resize of the hard drive worked perfectly. It took the 478 GB NTFS and cut it in half, and then put Kubuntu on it.

On the third laptop Kubuntu keeps trying to split the windows 7 swap file and put Kubuntu on there.

Going to manual mode, I can't figure out how to split the 478 GB partition myself.

Should I manually resize the partition from within windows 7? Or use a tool like Gparted first?

Resize it from within windows, If you reach the minimum size, shrink the swap file reboot and resize again.
