    Boot into single-user mode

O.K., with apologies to everyone, I know this is simple, but so am I. How do I boot into single-user mode?

if you have a grub menu during boot, it will be under the Advanced options , then select recovery

If you don't have a grub menu, you have to stab your shift key at he right spot just after the bios screen - holding it down is supposed to work but I never seem to get it right lol
