    Is My RAM Bad 14.04 & 13.10

    I ran MemTest for about 14-Passes, with 0-Errors For the 2 X 1GB Sticks.

    The Problem

    I have 2 X 1 GB Sticks of Ram PC2-5300 I also have 4 X 512MB sticks PC2-4200 When I run "HardInfo" and "GTKPerf" with the 2 X 1GB sticks its slower, then when I use the
    4 X 512MB sticks.

    With the 2 X 1GB
    Code:
    Summary
    Computer
    Processor	2x AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 3800+
    Memory	1983MB (838MB used)
    Operating System	Ubuntu 13.10
    Code:
    Benchmarks
    CPU Blowfish
    CPU Blowfish
    This Machine	1000 MHz	9.250
    Intel(R) Celeron(R) M processor 1.50GHz	(null)	26.1876862
    PowerPC 740/750 (280.00MHz)	(null)	172.816713

    With the 4 X 512MB sticks

    Code:
    Summary
    Computer
    Processor	2x AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 3800+
    Memory	1983MB (838MB used)

    Operating System	Ubuntu 13.10
    Code:
    Benchmarks
    CPU Blowfish
    CPU Blowfish
    This Machine	1800 MHz	9.259
    Intel(R) Celeron(R) M processor 1.50GHz	(null)	26.1876862
    PowerPC 740/750 (280.00MHz)	(null)	172.816713

If I use the other computer Hardinfo will crash during the Benchmark When I use the 2X1GB sticks.

I will assume you have 4 RAM slots ,,,,,,,,,,,IF you have a bank 1 (2 slots) and bank 2 (2 slots) , your bord can use duel channel mode , IF you have matching RAM chips , in this case to use duel channel moad with 2 chips thay must be in bank 1 slot 1 and bank 2 slot 1 ,,,,,,,,,,,,this MAY be why you are seeing slower speed with your faster chips .

According to what I read, the Two dual channel slots are the blue ones so that is fine...

The Slots go Blue, Black, Blue, Black.

right ,,,so if you have 2 sticks of matching RAM you would want them in the blue slots

Yes Vinny, I know that, I had my board setup right.

          About my Question?

Check the settings in your BIOS with both configs. Somethings is dropping your multipliers. Sometimes SPD or Auto does not work.

Also, for dual channel configs, I have had at least one MSI manual that was wrong about the slots.

The odd part it both Computers I tested the ram on Using "Hardinfo" had problems with the 2 X 1GB sticks, again memtest had zero errors.
