USB 2 devices do not work on USB 3 port

I have different devices (Harddrive, Wireless-Mouse Transmitter, Garmin GPS) which do not work or are not recognised by the system.
They get electrical power but that is all.
On the USB 2 port everything works fine.

Is there a fix for this problem ?

    Weird, this difference between USB2&3.
Some sites hint it may be a problem with the available power, running via a powered hub or using one of these USB cables with a double end might help narrow down the problem.

There are several pages devoted to not recognised hard disks or flash drives, you could try some of the remedies:
    http://askubuntu.com/questions/31898...-usb-hard-disk
    http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...tected-876180/

This is probably not going to solve the problem with the mouse.

But you can also try to boot up with the devices connected and see what gives.
The reason being that the BIOS 'legacy' mode sometimes has drivers that do work.
