KDE Connect not browsing my phone and tablet

Not wanting to outdo blackpaw I also see a problem in KDE Connect.

I don't seem to be able to browse the phone from KDE.
    All other options work.

For me it's been there since I installed it from the repo's a couple of weeks ago.
A couple of days ago and to check if a newer version would help I uninstalled and then compiled from Git.

But the issue remains, Dolphin shows the Nexus4 phone and Nexus7 tablets as devices yet I'm not able to access or browse them.
Nor does this work from the KdeConnect applet or window.

    The error in Dolphin is:
    Code:
Internal error. No such object path '/modules/kdeconnect/devices/devicespecificcode/sftp'

Have you filed a bug report with the developer?

Mine also doesnt do this, but Im using the repo version and I dont think it has this capability yet.

Solved my connection issue : (wireless problem).

      But also unable to browse

When I right click the phone in dolphin and choose "Open in new Tab" I see the following on the console:

      Code:
dolphin(27930): couldn't create slave: "Unable to create io-slave:
      klauncher said: Unknown protocol 'kdeconnect'

Not getting any notifications for text message either.

        I can "Ping" my phone.

No I haven't yet filed a bug report but did ask the same question on this HowTo site: http://xmodulo.com/2014/01/integrate-android-kde-linux-desktop.html

In hindsight I should have gone to The Master's own blog instead.
Looking at some of the last comments there seems to be a KIO missing for Dolphin yet someone got it working from the compiled version, no such luck here...

Is there a minimum on the Android side for this to browse and transfer??

Installed the repo version, call alerts, ping, and sms alerts worked.

Browse the phone from the KDE Connect control module does nothing.

Open Konqueror and get a Unknown protocol when I try to browse either of the phones I have to test..

On the phones they say "Plugins failed to load..tap." tapping on the phone does nothing...

These are Samsung Proclaim 2.3.6 FW, 2.6.35.7-1193553 Kernel
            Samsung Stratosphere 2.3.6 FW, 2.6.35.7.FF1

I am guessing you have to have some uber slick fancy new version of Android and phones..to do any of the browsing, transfering etc.. Leaves me out then..

Guess I will keep my old Airdroid versions loaded..

            Slick

You need at least android 4.3 I think for file browsing

Haven't built it from git it in a while, but I couldn't get kde to browse the phone file system last I tried

Tested again today. Sure enough call and email notifications are no longer working.

                      Hi woodsmoke, I use a Nexus7 from 2012 and a Nexus4, both fully updated to Android 4.4.2.
I'd assume these would be among the first and best supported.

Later today I'll drop a comment on the developer's site:

I have noticed that sometimes when there has been an update to either the desktop component or the mobile one, this can happen, and that un-pairing and re-pairing fixes this

I have a [relatively] brand new AT&T LG phone w/ Android 4.1.2. Doesn't seem very open source friendly if only the "latest and greatest" work with it. I downloaded Connect from GIT (0.4.2) and compiled it myself. Doesn't work. I can ping the PC from the phone, but nothing else functions. Bummed.

Hmmm latest release is 0.5, though i am sure the git branch is more recent.

I think the Android version requirements are there because there simply may not have been mechanisms to access the parts of the OS needed in previous versions. Notifications in particular need 4.3

Browsing files on the home from the desktop requires a fuse or kio thing, which might be the issue for it not working.

Yes it requires a KIO slave to interact with say Dolphin.
As far as I could tell from the compile log such was made and installed.

It's now two days ago I thought posted my problems on Albert Vaca's blog, so far no reaction and now I can't find the post...
                              Tommorow I'll have another look
