Strange behavoiur when switching user

Hi

I'm setting up Kubuntu for use by my family so it has to be pretty intuitive.

When you switch from one user to another than back again it doesn't behave the way you'd expect, and not the way Ubuntu works.

This is the sequence
- "K", "Leave", "Switch User"
- click "New session" then select the 2nd user and log in
...(do stuff, then want to go back to my original user session)
- "K", "Leave", "log out"
- Click "Logout " (again)
- Select original user and enter password
- Enter password AGAIN and click "unlock", and we're in.

What makes this a bit awkward (and my wife won't like this) is that when you are switching from a second user back to the first this is 5 clicks and two times you have to enter your password. In Ubuntu (and dare I mention this dirty word in a proper operating system forum, also in Windows) it's 2 clicks and one password (unless I've got my maths wrong)

Any thoughts anyone?

Maybe the fast user switch plasma widget is what you're looking for?
(it's installable from the repos, package name "plasma-widget-fastuserswitch"...obviously you have to add the widget to your panel after installation)

try this ,,,,,,,,,, once you are BOTH logged in just press ctrl+alt+f7 to get back to the first session or ctrl+alt+f6 to get back to the second session (once I think it was on f8 but could be any between 1-8 ) ,,,,,,,,,,,ya ya ,,,,my wife likes to "O let me see the laptop for a sec" as well , so quick switching can be advantageous ..........

also I think kruner (alt+f2) will do this as well

I ran into EXACTLY the same problem with a guest.

They have no clue about "what to do".

all the fixes are just so much gobbeldy gook to them.

I had to do a "new instal" and then at the very first thing create a second user and it worked fine...

but again, NOTHING on the machine from "me" .......a NEW install........created "another user" and it worked fine.

just me...of little worth.

yes the second user will be on ctrl+alt+f8 ,,,,,, the origanal on ctrl+alt+f7 ,,,,,so switching between them is quite quick and easy

I've installed the widget which helps but the ctl-alt-f7/8 seems a great solution.
