    thunderbird ignoring my system time format

    Thunderbird is totally ignoring my preferences for time and date display formats, which are as follows:

    Time: pH:MM AMPM
    Date: dD/mM/YY

    Thunderbird is insisting on using 24 hour time and the American month/day rather than day/month, although everything else in my system respects the preferences.

    A quick google search shows this is a common problem, but all I've been able to find out about fixing it is ridiculously messy workarounds which are probably also out of date (5 years old or so). There must be an easier way! Anyone?

      I've seen this, it's a bug. To correct it:

      Open the KDE Menu Editor, select Internet then Thunderbird and edit the Thunderbird command line to read:

      Code:
      export LC_TIME=en_GB.UTF-8 && thunderbird %u
      Kubuntu 20.04(AMD64)/KDE 5

        Shouldn't a bug be filed with Ubuntu then? Or is it only a bug in KDE / Kubuntu?

          I read that this is a long-standing Thunderbird bug and not related to Ubuntu/KDE.

            Yep, and it's seven years old: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=379279
