Your post #22 shows that sudo sensors-detect isn't finding anything. Since ThinkFan needs to know what those sensors are, and since your laptop isn't revealing any, I doubt ThinkFan will work for you.

Do the following, then save and exit the editor:
Cursor to a blank line above the temperature setting lines that look like "(nn nn nn)"
Insert the contents of the file /tmpin
Type the word sensor in front of each inserted line and remove the leading period
Exit the editor and delete /tmpin

i cant get to the tmpin thing, the

I had forgotten that kmod replaced module-init-tools starting with *buntu 13.10. I edited my power management post to reflect this.

Wait... you mean sudo sensors-detect threw that error? If so, then I don't know of any other way to make ThinkFan work.

You're 30C higher than mine at idle. Under Precise I wouldn't see those temps unless I was driving Stellarium very hard, or playing full screen Minecraft. Now, under Tahr, I have to be running both the minecraft server and the client, and have several people logged in to see temps over 55-60C. With Tahr I have yet to see a 70C temp.

I'm not running any heavy programs, just a browser and konsole. And I have only Kubuntu on this laptop.
