Again finding myself in a hotel with limited internet access I used the buetooth hotspot as described here:

Because I now prefer to use 13.10 I installed blueman from the repo's and tried to start it but it would not come up.
Starting it from the konsole with
gave an error about an icon not found.
This pretty much standard system uses the Oxygen theme and changing the GTK fallback theme to Gnome brought a solution.
My gadgets are now on line via the bluetooth hotspot on the laptop.
Though it would be nice to have a KDE version
