Certain programs won't feed sound to HDMI

Im trying to get games playing on my TV. Video is fine, but all sound goes to the headphone jack on my computer. Movies, notifications, videos and everything else I can think of all manage HDMI sound fine. This is driving me crazy! Any ideas?

    Running pulseaudio with VLC backend.

have you checked system settings-> multimedia -> games to be sure its set to the hdmi out? also you might want to try the veromix widget its ment to replace kmix and works much better w/ pulseaudio (can even set you default sink from it for each active program using the audio)

Ill check out the veromix widget over the weekend. Thanks.

I found a way to get all sound to go through HDMI, but its not perfect. If I use pavucontrol and turn off the headphone jack, then all sound is forced to HDMI, but I dont want all sounds to go there.

I'll add another vote for Veromix. Even the new KMix still doesn't provide the fine-grained control of PulseAudio that Veromix does.
