Facebook Chat with Telepathy Causes Network Error?

I recently tried the telepathy-ppa but found it to unstable. I purged the ppa but had to do some work to get all the left overs off my system to get back to the official stable release and dependencies. Now that I am back on the offical stable build facebook chat stopped working. It just says network error. I tried a telent session:
    Code:
    xplorer4x4@xplorer4x4-gbz77:~$ telnet chat.facebook.com 5222
    Trying 173.252.75.17...
    Connected to chat.t.facebook.com.

From what I see on google, this is a normal response minus some XML parsing. I cant find a log to provide any more info. I tried purging telepathy using sudo apt-get purge telepathy-* but after a reboot, the config files were still in place as my log in info was saved. I tried looking for a telepathy folder that would have config files in it, but no such luck. How can I fix this problem and/or delete the config files to try from scratch?

Telepathy installs the following in the users home directory:
    .cache/telepathy.cache/telepathy/logger
    .cache/telepathy/logger/sqlite-data
    .kde/share/config/ktelepathyrc
    .local/share/telepathy
    .local/share/telepathy/mission-control
    .local/share/telepathy/mission-control/accounts.cfg

Thanks I was using Dolphin's search, which is mostly worthless imo, but locate turned up a ton of telepathy files. Removed every single file with the name telepathy(after purging them from the system using apt), rebooted. Installed kde-telpathy, got a prompt to reboot, and so I did. Fired up telepathy, added my facebook acount using my fb username, not my log in email, and same network problem.
