after upgrade to kubuntu 13.04 kio-mtp not work.
With 12.10 no problems, but after upgrade to 13.04 i have problem, dolphin not display mtp icon, i remove kio-mtp with purge , and install now,- problem continue.

Sometimes it helps to just open dolphin, and use the sidebar and click on the icon there rather than using the pop-up notifications etc.

Can you explain more carefully by what you mean that it doesn't work?

I repeat. Plug the device in. Close any and all file managers. Then open dolphin, on the bar on the left you should see the device name, click on it, it may spew out an error. Click on the icon again. Is it working? Also is the MTP KIO-slave installed?

            :~$ apt-cache policy kio-mtp
            kio-mtp:
