I have a problem on playing some video

i have a problem on playing some .flv files
and this message appears for me playing audio with out video



i hope a fast solution pls

Kemenu | System | Muon Package Manager

In the search bar at the top, type in

h.264

Do you see packages "libx264-123" and "libavcodec-extra-53"? Are they installed? If not, install them and try again.

Actually, I wonder if you have the metapackage "Kubuntu-restricted-extras" installed. Search for that in the Muon package manager first. If you do not have that installed, then install it. It will give you a lot of codecs that you will need for multimedia stuff.

I was able to play the video trailer here on my machine. It is in H.264.

Hmmm. Not sure why it doesn't work, then. flv is a flash video format. IIUC, If you have restricted extras, you should also have flash.

Can you play the files in question with Dragon Player?

Sometimes changing the player makes a difference, although it shouldn't.

Are the problem *.flv files on the web? Can you share a link to them?

I see that you are posting from the 13.04 section. 13.04 is a very new release, and it may have bugs in it. IF they play on a previous version of Kubuntu, then we know where the problem is.

but i was having this problem since i was using 12.10, that is i upgraded to 13.04
but the problem still continues

I'm running 12.10 on this Asus netbook that I am using at the moment. I don't do a lot of video work, but I've not had problems with the ones I've come across. That is why I wondered if you had a sample file that I could try. Any chance that files you are trying to access are corrupt?
