    13.04 beta1 Won't install

    That's what happened.

The installer hung at the start of Disk Setup.
I tried with the daily iso but no joy.

Google showed an Ubuntuforums post where some found remedy removing all but the first HD.
    http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2097429&page=2
And I do have a second HD in a caddy...

In other words this bug is still alive and kicking.

So thanks to Google all is well.

Yes, that was the hidden message, it won't install when 2 HD's are present.
The first HD has seven partitions and when on it's own there is no problem.

      Oh yeah, triple booting:
      Kubuntu 12.10,
      Kubuntu 13.04,
      Win-7.

Humm my original plan ,,,,he he ,,,,was to install 13.04 to my /sda6 which currently has Slackware on it ......thare in giving me 12.04 /sda2 12.10 /sda5 and 13.04 /sda6,,,,,,,but right now I'm leaning towards waiting for 13.04 to go release and do a "do-release-upgrade" from 12.10 ,,,,,,,,,,I actually started to do it earlier today with the -d switch .

        Code:
<snip>bunch of get repo stuff <snip>

        Reading package lists... Done

Do you want to start the upgrade?

5 packages are going to be removed. 97 new packages are going to be
installed. 1213 packages are going to be upgraded.

You have to download a total of 867 M. This download will take about
2 hours 3 minutes with your connection.

Installing the upgrade can take several hours. Once the download has
finished, the process cannot be canceled.

        but then backed out

Thanks for sharing Teunis, should have seen this before I tried to install this on my workstation. Wasted several hours trying to install this. I don't want to mess about with harddrives on my workstation at this time however, think I'll wait till this is 'flattened', or try the workaround below.

          It really should be in the known install bugs/problems here;
          https://wiki.kubuntu.org/RaringRingt...Known_Problems

There seems to be some software workarounds with disable swap post #68, I might try this when I get to my stationary later this week.

There is a bug report for this:
            https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+s.../+bug/1085991/

I was bit by it. Seems that there's a 'helper script' that gets stuck. I followed the following:
            https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+s...991/comments/5

Which tells you to negate the executable permissions of the 'choices' script so that it does not run:
            sudo chmod -x /lib/partman/automatically_partition/*5*/choices

This means you'll have to set your partitions/install up manually.

After doing the above, my install progressed as expected.

            Cheers
