Upgraded to kde4.10 rc3 and white screen?

So I upgraded to kde 4.10 RC3 and now when i try to boot it gets to a white screen with a mouse pointer and i can't do anything?

Does this happen before or after you log in?

In other words, do you get the white screen before the login screen appears (in which case it's likely to be a graphic driver, Xorg or lightdm/kdm issue)...or do you get the login screen, but the white screen comes after you try to log into kde (in which case it's likely to be kde/plasma config issue)

      Try running this:
      Code:
      sudo apt-get update
      sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
      sudo apt-get install -f kubuntu-desktop

This happen to me, installed kdm and it was solved so I'm guessing it's a problem with lightdm.

I'm having this problem on one machine but not the other: KDM works, but LightDM won't load.

          Machine that works:
Kubuntu 12.10 64 with backports ppa
          Core 2 Duo
          evga Nvidia 8600 GT 512 DDR2

          Machine that doesn't
Kubuntu 12.10 64 with backports ppa
First Gen (1156) i5 quad core
          pny Nvidia 630 2gb ddr2

the i5 is a new build, the core 2 duo is a dell vostro I've been running kubuntu since 10.10 on (upgrades, no wipes)
